The current COVID-19 pandemic has a lot of people worried. With news from the CDC that the virus can live on a surface for up to 4 days, a lot of people have taken to wiping everything around them down. It got us to thinking about how you can go about keeping your car clean and safe during this time. So we put together the following tips to help you have a safe and clean vehicle and, just maybe, relieve some of your stress.

1. Distance

One of the simplest and most effective means of combatting the spread of this virus is social distance. This is an incredibly easy practice for most people as we don’t often have individuals outside of friends or family in our cars. For the time being, limiting the number of people in your car will help create distance between you and COVID-19. It also costs very little and takes no special preparation to do, making this an incredible first step.

2. Wipe Down Surfaces

We all clean our cars, but we tend to have some time between those cleanings. A good practice right now is to wipe down the commonly touched surfaces in your car on a more regular basis. Steering wheels, door handles, radio and A/C controls, anything that will be commonly touched should be kept clean. Regular cleaning of these surfaces is great, but you also need to use the right agents to kill the virus. The CDC has a great list of approved cleaners and guidelines to help you.

3. Relax

Most importantly you need to relax. It’s easy to panic and overdo your efforts to keep everyone safe, but it won’t help. Use the information available to look at your specific circumstances and develop a plan from there. Panic won’t help you, it will just stress you out
