Spring is on the way! The weather is warming up and our minds are already drifting to thoughts of fun in the sun. Spring is one of our favorite times of the year. Here in the Lowcountry, it’s definitely one of our most beautiful times and reminds us how much of a paradise we live in. The time isn’t just full of beauty though. Spring is also full of hazards for your car. What are these springtime dangers for your car? Read on to learn more about them and what you can do.

Pollen

We’re no strangers to pollen in the Lowcountry. This time every year the trees start dropping pollen in such great amounts that all of our cars change colors. Black cars are suddenly green, we start to feel our allergies, and we find ourselves just a little more careful as we get into our cars. What we often don’t think about is how bad pollen can be for our car. The pollen you see stays around until wind or rain moves it, but that might take a while. Over time, as your car sits with the pollen on it, the paint will begin to deteriorate and cause long-term damage.

Bird Droppings

No one likes coming out of their office or the store to find that a bird has decided to leave you a little present on your car. Even worse is the fact that those bird droppings will bake in the sun and eat away at your paint job. Much like pollen, bird droppings need to be addressed and removed from the car to protect it from long-term damage. The question is how do you protect your car from these effects?

The funny thing is that fixing these springtime car problems is very simple. All you need to do is give your car a proper and regular wash. For additional protection, you can utilize a car cover to help keep pollen and bird droppings off of your car’s paint, but it’s not necessary. Just remember to give your car a little care and love. Your paint will be happy and it’s a great way to get some sun as well.
